FTAs, Domestic Tourism grow consistently from 2011-2013: Union Minister

Addressing members in the Rajya Sabha yesterday, Dr Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Culture and Tourism and Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Government of India, said that Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in India have grown in each of the last three years. The number of Domestic Tourist Visits (DTVs) has also registered growth during 2011, 2012, and 2013, as per a PIB release.

Dr Sharma said that the steps taken by the government to boost tourism in the country include new schemes like Swadesh Darshan and PRASAD; e-Tourist Visa; measures to ensure safety of women tourists; Swachh Bharat Swachh Smarak campaign; and publicity and promotion, among others.
