Jet Airways starts more domestic services to cash in on summer rush


MUMBAI: Jet Airways, India's biggest carrier by market share Friday announced plans of adding 31 domestic flights this summer.

Jet has introduced a total of 23 inbound and outbound flights from Delhi to cities such as Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengalore, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Lucknow, Patna, Srinagar, Jaipur and Pune.

It has also increased frequencies to Pune, Goa and Imphal looking at the growing demand in the sector owing to buoyant business and tourist travel. Meanwhile, the airline has offered 16 of its wide bodied planes for sale, according to data revealed recently by an international trade website.

Jet Airways plans to take back two Boeing 777s from Etihad

NEW DELHI: Jet Airways, which plans to enhance its services on the US routes, may ask its strategic investment partner Etihad to return two of its Boeing-777 planes which are currently on lease with the Gulf-based carrier.

The private carrier has leased out seven wide-bodied planes to Etihad, which holds 24 per cent stake in Jet Airways, including five Boeing 777-300 ERs which are used for ultra long-haul operations.

"Jet Airways may ask Etihad to return two of the five Boeing 777s, which it has leased to the Gulf partner," sources said here.

Jet seeks to 'enhance presence' in US market






NEW DELHI: The Naresh Goyal-promoted Jet Airways would soon draw up plans to expand in the US skies following the restoration

last week by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of India's aviation safety rating to Category-1, sources have said.

The airline would also take on board its strategic investment partner Etihad while carrying out the exercise to avoid any "cannibalisation" of routes, they said.

Jet Airways currently operates a daily direct service from New Delhi to Newark while Etihad, which holds a 24 per cent stake in Goyal's airline, flies to six US cities.

Jet Airways expands codeshare pacts with Vietnamese, Indonesian carriers








MUMBAI: Jet AirwaysBSE Friday said it has expanded the scope of its codeshare agreements with Garuda Indonesia and Vietnam Airlines, the flag carriers of Indonesia and Vietnam.

The airline will place its code (9W) on Garuda Indonesia flights operating between Singapore and Bali Denpasar.

Passengers travelling on both Jet and Garuda will be able to fly between various points on connecting flights operated by the carriers effective April 20, 2015. Jet's current code share with Garuda entails flights Singapore and Jakarta.

Similarly, Jet will place its code on Vietnam Airlines' flights operating between Singapore and Phu Quoc Island and vice versa effective April 15, 2015. This is in addition to the existing codeshare flights between Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.

Jet Airways-airberlin tie up for codeshare





Jet Airways has entered into a codeshare agreement with airberlin from April 2015.

This development will see Jet Airways placing its code (9W) on airberlin’s (AB) daily flights to Berlin (TXL) and Dusseldorf (DUS) from gateway point Abu Dhabi. Jet Airways operates 12 daily services to Abu Dhabi from 11 Indian cities.

Business jet operators demand separate rule in new aviation policy






NEW DELHI: General and business aviation operators have urged the Government to put in place separate regulations for the Scheduled Commuter Airlines (SCA) before finalising the much-awaited new aviation policy.

Besides, the operators have also sought from the civil aviation ministry to issue guidelines for code sharing between SCA and scheduled airlines.

"The requirement to prepare separate regulations (Civil Aviation Requirement) for Scheduled Commuter Airlines should be put in place before the new policy is implemented," Business Aircraft Operators Association (BAOA) said in its response to the Government's draft remote connectivity policy.

Jet Airways launches daily flights to Abu Dhabi from Pune, Ahmedabad, Mangalore


NEW DELHI: Private carrier Jet AirwaysBSE 4.23 % today launched daily international flights to Abu Dhabi from Pune, Ahmedabad and Mangalore.

It is the first time that Jet Airways has offered international flights from Ahmedabad and Pune, a release said.

The airline will deploy a 178-seater Boeing 737-800 Next Generation (NG) aircraft, with 12 seats in premiere class and 156 seats in economy class to service the three new routes, it said.

Jet Airways chief executive Cramer Ball had last week said that the airline would enhance 11 per cent additional flights on the overseas routes while the domestic sector would see five per more flights during the summer schedule.

Jet Airways lines up more domestic, international flights






NEW DELHI: Jet AirwaysBSE 0.27 % plans to increase flights on both its domestic and international networks, along with launching new services from three cities to its Abu Dhabi hub during the summer schedule that kicks off in three days.

 "We are increasing 5% capacity on our domestic routes and another 11% on the international from the summer schedule," Jet Airways CEO Cramer Ball told the media on the sidelines of an aviation summit organised by ET on Thursday.

He said that the airline also plans to launch new flight services to Abu Dhabi from Pune, Mangalore and Ahmedabad as part of its summer schedule. Connecting these Indian cities to the world through Abu Dhabi is part of the carrier's plan to connect 26 cities in India.

Jet Airways to launch freighter service from next month





NEW DELHI: Private carrier Jet AirwaysBSE 2.40 % will launch a dedicated freighter service on both national and international routes, including Bangalore, Hong Kong and Singapore from next month.

The airline will commence these services with an Airbus A330-200 freighter aircraft, which has been wet-leased from Jet Airways investment partner Etihad, the airline said in a release today.

The government had recently accorded in-principle approval to Jet Airways to lease the aircraft from the Gulf carrier.

Under a wet lease arrangement, a lessor leases an aircraft with crew insurance and maintenance services to the lessee.

Jet Airways to launch new flights to Doha from Kerala






NEW DELHI: Private carrier Jet AirwaysBSE 3.94 % will launch tomorrow two new flights to Doha from Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram, which will provide greater connectivity to the Gulf region.

The new flights, to be operated on the Thiruvananthapuram- Doha and Kozhikode-Doha sectors, will initially fly three days a week and then from June 1 they would be converted into daily services, Jet Airways said in a release today.

The airlines also said it has introduced special fares for the new sectors, which will operated with 168-seater Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft, having 12 seats in premiere and 156 seats in economy class.

"Currently Jet Airways operates four daily flights to Doha (two from Mumbai and one each from Delhi and Kochi) and with the launch of these two new flights, it would now connect three cities of Kerala including Kochi with the Gulf country, the airline said.

Taxmen slap prosecution notice on Jet Airways for TDS defaults





MUMBAI: Income Tax (IT) authorities have slapped prosecution notice on Naresh Goyal-promoted Jet Airways for TDS (Tax Deduction at Source)payments default, official sources said today.

The notice was served to the Mumbai-headquartered airline after tax men said they have detected "several irregularties" in the TDS payments by the private carrier.

"We have issued prosecution notice to Jet Airways for TDS default for the previous three fiscals-2008, 2009 and 2010 as well as for the on-going financial year," the sources said.

These notices are apart from the two notices issued to Jet Airways earlier for delay in TDS payments during 2013 and 2014, they said.

Jet Airways lowers its fare on international routes







MUMBAI: Jet AirwaysBSE -2.62 % on Wednesday announced discounts of up to 35% on base fares of its international flights, making way for another bonanza for holidayers this year. Bookings under the seven-day offer are open till March 3 with travel validity up to December 12.

For instance, a Mumbai-Singapore return base fare comes to Rs 1,370. In comparison, IndiGo's one way base fare for a Mumbai-Singapore flight in July comes to Rs 8,198. However interestingly, IndiGo is charging taxes and surcharges ofRs 14,329 while Jet is charging Rs 18,897.

The offer is also valid on long haul flights via its hub in Abu Dhabi and includes flights shared with its strategic partner Etihad Airways.

For instance, on a Delhi-Toronto Etihad operated flight, the return bas fare comes to Rs 14,420 while for Lufthansa it comes to Rs 37,100. However, here again Etihad is charging taxes and surcharges of Rs 48,931 while Lufthansa is charging Rs 39,299.

Jet Airways starts testing mobile boarding passes from Bengaluru





MUMBAI: Private carrier Jet AirwaysBSE 0.96 % has started testing mobile boarding passes on select flights from the Bengaluru airport, the airline said in a statement today.

The airline said the pilot project has been kicked off on select flights from Bengaluru to Mumbai and New Delhi from February 12.

To facilitate the process, the Naresh Goyal-led airline has entered into a partnership with the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security of India and the Bengaluru international airport, it said in a statement today.

During this trial phase, a passenger can use the barcoded boarding pass on the mobile phone to enter the airport and after the security checks can board the flight, and that the Bengaluru airport has already installed mobile boarding pass scanners at the entrance, security check-points and at the boarding gates.

Jet Airways rejigs loyalty programme

NEW DELHI: Private carrier Jet AirwaysBSE -2.66 % has rejigged its loyalty programme offering members enhanced benefits including linking tier-points to the distance and frequency of travel as well as value of the ticket, the airline today said.

 Tier-points and tier JPMiles required to qualify for the Blue Plus tier have been reduced, making it simpler and easier to move up the elite tiers, a release said.

The loyalty programme JetPrivilege currently offers five membership tiers-Blue, Blue Plus and Elite with Silver, Gold and the exclusive Platinum.

The new initiative allows JetPrivilege members to retain their existing tier level more easily, as well as progress faster through tier levels, the airline said.

Jet Airways, IndiGo Announce Discount Offers to Take on SpiceJet






Fare war in Indian skies has gone intense with airlines frequently introducing new offers. Following budget-carrier SpiceJet's 'cheaper than train fare' sale on Wednesday, others airlines too introduced new offers to woo in travelers.

While IndiGo introduced a discount scheme offering all-inclusive fares starting Rs 1499, Jet Airways offered special advance purchase fares for economy class starting Rs 1,933.

The IndiGo offer is valid on bookings made 90 days ahead of travel date. Jet Airways is available on tickets purchased a minimum of 90 days prior for travel on or after July 1.

SpiceJet on Wednesday launched discount scheme offering air tickets as low as Rs 599 (all-inclusive), making it the cheapest offer announced so far this year.

Jet Airways takes on Vistara, offers more free miles on similar routes






Jet AirwaysBSE -2.43 % continues to take on Vistara aggressively, now offering more privileges and benefits under its frequent flyer programme specifically on routes flown by the full-service carrier of Tatas and Singapore Airlines.

Jet Airways has announced triple its normal free miles under the JPMiles programme on business class and double the base JPMiles on economy class bookings for travel till March 31. The "promotion is applicable for travel between Mumbai, Delhi and
 Ahmedabad Sectors only", it said on its website.

Vistara, the third full-service airline in India after Air India and Jet Airways, started its operations on January 9 with flights from Delhi to Mumbai and Ahmedabad. It has faced stiff, though somewhat subtle, competition from incumbent players.

Jet Airways and Etihad Airways launch discounted fares





Private carrier Jet Airways in association with its gulf partner Etihad today announced limited period discounted fares for

travel across its network on the occasion of Republic Day.

Besides, the offer will also be applicable on Etihad Airways flights, which holds 24 per cent stake in the Naresh

Goyal-promoted airline, for destinations across the US, Europe and the Middle-east, airline said in a statement here.

On Etihad Airways flights the offer, however, is applicable on business and economy class fares, it said adding the offer is valid for travel on the international routes of Jet Airways and Etihad Airways from February 1 onward.

"Our special Republic Day fares will provide the chance to experience our exceptional service, a wide global network, flexible schedules and enhanced connectivity. It's also great that guests can enjoy these special offer on the combined network of Etihad Airways and Jet Airways," Jet Airways senior vice president for commercial Gauran Shetty said.

Jet Airways currently operates a fleet of 117 aircraft to across 71 destinations both in India and abroad.

Jet Airways to allow penalty free cancellation of bookings within 24 hours

India’s largest private airline, Jet Airways, has taken a leaf out of the playbook of many international carriers and introduced a new initiative to waive penalty fees for cancellations made within 24 hours of bookings made on their website. A very smart and passenger friendly move which deserves congratulations.

The new initiative is limited to bookings made on the airline’s website and allows guests to amend or cancel their booking without any penalty fee by using the “Manage Booking” facility, up to one hour before the scheduled departure time for domestic flights and three hours for international flights.

Changes in the booking like travel dates and/or times will still be subject to fare differences, though the penalty fees will be waived. A decrease in fare will not be refunded, in which case, you are better off cancelling and re-booking.
